- Golly Trading opened doors to the business world in 1999 and like any great man we know present-day, the Managing Director – Mr. Samuel Tauya was clueless of his destiny.
Golly rented a small bakery in the high-density suburb of Dangamvura’s Area 13 at Shop 37, Mangenje Shopping Centre, with a blue Toyota Hilux 2.4 used for delivery and sometimes personal use by the Managing Director (MD).
- Around 2001, Golly became very popular in schools when the organization improvised and started distributing half loaves pasted with cream, which became a hit and popularized the Golly brand in the Mutare.
- By the end of 2002, business was booming and managed to purchase the Dangamvura premise and four trucks to try and meet the delivery demand in rural areas of Chipinge, Chimanimani and Nyanga where there was a huge market. Golly also expanded into confectionery products.
- As business grew in 2008, Golly moved to a bigger bakery & is currently operating from in the Nyakamete light industrial area at Number 1 Glasgow Road.
- In 2009, the Manicaland ZNCC noticed Golly’s enterprising efforts and awarded the organization the Small to Medium Entrepreneur of the year accolade.
- Golly is the 2013 ZNCC Manicaland Businessman of the year and has also been awarded, first runner up for Businessman of the year as well as resilience in previous years.
